Success
is a journey and not a destination, too many people success is having achieved
that thing they longed for, but that is only a sign, or mark in your road to
success. Success is subjective and varies according to one’s purpose and how
they viewed life. To some people it means having a lot of food on the table,
having a million followers on social media, changing the lives of people,
bullying and eliminating others, being the CEO of that large corporation,
gaining personal independence, and etc.
The
quest for success, has led to many theories and speeches ben crafted all with
the intent to suite one’s view and quest for acceptance in society. Everyone is
naturally inclined to love successful people and they all seem wanting to be
associated with them, and they all strive and wish one day they could be like
them. They love success, but do not understand the rules and principles of
successful living where we have a biased view towards success, we always have a
fictitious view of being successful, where we think that it’s always
comfortable there at the top, and any glimpse of the top we have had in the
past has opened our eyes and let us know that more is required at the top. This
has prompted a lot of people to give up trying to get there though a few have
remained focused and hustle their way to the top and it seems a small group of
them really have properly navigated their way to the top.
Success
is a lifestyle, once you start it you would always want to live it, you never
want to fail, though failures do come but to successful people it’s always that
they would have learnt how something cannot be done. They always strive to
perfect, though perfection will not always come every day, but to successful
people it’s always being better than yesterday. Success is always about growth,
where an inch is celebrated knowing that successive inches will grow into a
foot and to them it’s always about trying to be better, it’s not about being
the best but always about being better than what you were the time before. True
successful people always think about how something can be done better and they
are always dedicated about providing these solutions to the betterment of people.
Being successful is all in the mind and you have to always tell yourself that
you can do it and even go further than just telling yourself that you can do
but even going further to push yourself to do it.
I quote Nelson Mandela when he said, “One
cannot be prepared for something whilst secretly believing that it will not
happen” Many of us, want to be successful but our minds keep on telling us that
we cannot and we have believed it and this has prevented us from releasing that
potential deep within us. Our minds have been conditioned to think that being
successful with expose ourselves to a lot of accountability but the truth is
that either way you are still being charged for your actions and you still
going to be accountable for your life, so it’s better being accountable at the
top than being bullied around at the bottom.
The
truth is that if you are not successful noon will even listen to you, no one
will pay attention to your details, no one will even be worried about you and
no one is even bothered about your presence, because to them you are valueless,
you have nothing to offer, you are of little importance and you are just an
underdog. This is a hard truth and I do not mean to pain or intimidate you but
this is the truth that can make you get out of that comfortable bed with grief
of being better, put off that show and start finding your way to the top,
switch off that radio and start listening to something positive, delete those
contacts and start talking to people who add value to you, delete those social
media accounts and start adding value to yourself, exit those Whatsapp groups
and start joining communities that are productive.
I
do mean that you all have to drive, that you all have to run for office, that
you all have to do the same program, that you all have to afford the same
lifestyle, that you all have to reach a certain level of material of
acquisition in life that we will now call you successful, but as I said before
it is all subjective, You have to find your niche and pursue you own arena,
grow into that, add value into that, and improve yourself into that. It might
be soccer, dribbling skills, public speaking skills, marketing skills, art and
designing, boxing, tennis, singing etc. You can be successful in your own area,
and remember it is not about competition, but being better than yesterday and
remember that Success is a journey and not a destination.
