Who holds the future?

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” and this is undoubtedly true that the future belongs to those who are always positive. Positivity is the key to a bright future and I understand so much that everyone has dreams but the future only belongs to those who believe in the good side of their dreams. Anyone can dream, and your dreams can take you as wild as you can visualize, but the future is only in control of those who believe in the beauty of the dreams. It does not mean that you might not have bad dreams, but the future is in control of those who believe in the good of their dreams.
Well, everyone has a dream, as you see yourself as the CEO of that company, the chairperson of that community, the president of that organization, living in that mansion, driving that Merc but those things will only belong to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. It is very good to dream big, to see yourself far, to visualize a bright future for yourself but let us not forget that, there is a mountain to be climbed.

Many people see the summit but do not see the mountain and this has been our problem of late, that we often see where we want to go, but we do not know how to get there and if we happen to know how to get there, we are not willing to pay the price. It’s not an easy task to get to the summit hence many people are not willing to pay the  price and of late they have resorted to cutting corners. They have believed so much in get rich quick schemes that they would think success will just come in a silver platter. There is no success without sweat, and if ever you would want the good things in life, then be willing to pay the price. Nothing is free in life and this should be a fact that you ought to abide by. It’s a principle that has seen some people risen to great heights in their careers, life, finances etc.

I have noted of late that anyone can dream, and I remember as a kid, when we would always visualize ourselves as pilots, millionaires, billionaires and some even went on to the extent of seeing  themselves as the next Einstein, but as usual some we no closer to our dreams. We would all challenge each other on how creatively we could visualize ourselves in the next decades and as it was a matter of creativity, the creative ones would always win the contest and they would tell us of their beautiful dreams. Every time I was always challenged to dream more, and the next day I would come back with the dreams of what I would have seen on TV and I would see myself as one of those super characters with the inherent power to conquer and silence the world, but these were all just dreams.  This is a common story amongst all age group, where we all see a bright future, before we start working we  always see ourselves with beautiful jobs, family life etc. When now working we see ourselves with beautiful retirement homes, grandkids and lifestyle but the sad truth is that in most cases we do not  get what we dream of, and when we faced with the brutal hand of life principles we start asking, “Why Me?”
Execution is the key, and each one has his own way of executing, but at the end of the day we would want to see ourselves on the summit. What brings the joy of being on top of Mt Everest or Kilimanjaro is the many hours that you spent hiking and trekking up the mountain as you would have conquered all setbacks. You might fall many times, you get hurt you nearly give up, you suffering from hypothermia but you always want to push yourself up to the summit, and when you up there you can say to yourself that, “I have made it”. This is the same things with our dreams and ultimate success, you fall many a time, you get discouraged, you lose your loved ones, you get rejected, you hurt, you suffer from loneliness as you fight hard for your dream trying to execute it with all your heart but when you finally make it, You can pitch up the flag on the summit and celebrate saying to yourself, “Finally I have made it”.
You could have flown high up the mountain with a helicopter, but in most cases, you will not get the thrill and excitement of being up there and this has become a problem of concern in our society, where people are bribing for appointments, killing for a post, cheating your way to the top, getting some black magic, but one thing I love about life is that it has its principles. ‘Life is a matter of Principles’ and you ought to abide by them. They are not getting the joy and peace on being on the summit, because they thought that was real success, but Alas! true success is in the sweat you have as you go up, the cramp you suffer as you hike, the bruises you have as you find your way in the thorny bushes, the cuts you get as some rocks roll over and reaching the top and raising a flag is only a sign that I have endure the pain. How can you raise a flag when you haven’t conquered something?
Dream big but see it as a mountain, remembering the Chinese Proverb that goes, “Success in the end erases all the mistakes along the way”
